No, its NOT OVER!

AaaaaaaaArgh!!!! I HATE MY FEZ! I HATE MY SKIN……WHY? THIS IS HOW I LOOK LIKE:

Actual pics

These stupid acnes kept haunting me every now and then; they just won’t let me go. If you are curious about my “oh- I-thought- my-acne-journey-is over” entries click here, here, here and here.

I know the main reason of me leading to this kind of dilemma is due to my super UNHEALTHY lifestyle. My everyday routine starts with waking up at 5am, eats junkfood for breakfast, fastfood for lunch, instant food for dinner and sleeps at 12MN. Yeah, I tried to change that but it’s easier said than done. Really I have TRIED, but failed ALWAYS….
I think the most that I could offer is to intake plenty of water just so I could at least well; contribute a little advantage to my skin, but by then I’ll look so bloated due to water retention (-__-)”

Anyhoo, enough of those nonsense blabber stuff lets move on to the real deal on how I’m treating this current breakout.

Here are the products I’ve been using currently for around 3 weeks which kinda help me clear my BAD cystic ACNE quite effectively. I’m simply going to state out my reviews, if you want to know more about the product just click on the product name.

·          a sulfur based powder that claims to help control oil and reduce redness.
MY REVIEW:
·         It’s a light yellowish powder which tends to conceal the redness of my skin immediately after application
·         It also helps heal the redness and swollen acnes gradually
·         In my case, I noticed a huge difference in just one application. I applied the powder to those acne erupted areas and leave them overnight. Those overly swollen and reddish acnes tuned slightly pinkish and not that swollen anymore

MAIN FUNCTION:
·         To HEAL and CONTROL BREAKOUT

·         This contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids thus the reason why I bought it and Mario Badescu also states that this is their BEST SELLING CLEANSER.
MY REVIEW:
·         Even though my face is all RED, BLOTCHY, and SWOLLEN with pimples this cleanser is GENTLE enough to remove all the dirts and still provide adequate moisture to my face

MAIN FUNCTION:
·         TO CLEANSE skin; REMOVE DIRT AND RESIDUE

·         Main function is to remove stubborn blackheads
MY REVIEW:
·         I don’t have that much blackheads but whiteheads instead. Upon first application, I noticed that my white heads were not completely removed. However it tends to soften the outer skin of the whiteheads and would come off naturally after I scrub my face.

MAIN FUNCTION:
·         TO EXFOLIATE SKIN; REMOVE BLACKHEADS

MY REVIEW:
·         I already made a short review on this click here
·         Just to add on the note, this cream will not makes your skin red, dry or peel badly as long as you apply a SMALL amount to AFFECTED areas ONLY

MAIN FUNCTION:
·         TO HEAL existing ACNES/PIMPLES

MY REVIEW:
·         I love this serum as it makes my skin soft and smooth instantly
·         The serum is easily absorbed to skin and won’t feel greasy at all
·         2-3 drops is enough for the entire face, would last really long
·         I noticed that my skin becomes more glowy and refresh
·         Definitely a MUST HAVE! Super love this!

MAIN FUNCTION:
·         PROVIDE MOISTURIZE and HEAL existing ACNE SCARS/MARKS

My 3 Week Routine:

STEP 1: (Morning and Night)
Cleanse Face using MARIO BADESCU: ENZYME CLEANSING GEL  then PAT DRY
(sometimes I alternate it with EUCERIN Cleanser)

STEP 2: (only once or twice a week)
Apply a thin layer of MARIO BADESCU: SILVER POWDER to a damp cotton pad and place firmly to areas with black/white heads. Wait 10 minutes and rub off using DICKINSON’s Toner (any toner will do, as long as it is gentle enough)  and rinse face using MARIO BADESCU: ENZYME CLEANSING GEL
(if I’m too lazy to apply this I would sometimes use the Chella Mask instead)

STEP 3: (2 drops every night)
Apply 2-3 drops of MARIO BADESCU VITAMIN C SERUM all over the face and massage gently with fingertips until it is all completely absorbed by the skin

STEP 4: (every night)
Apply a very thin layer of PHILOSOPHY: HELP ME RETINOL NIGHT CREAM to those acne spots and apply a thin layer of TERRAMYCIN ointment to those swollen/erupted acnes.

STEP 6: (morning and night)
Pat on MARIO BADESCU: SPECIAL HEALING POWDER to those acnes affected areas

This is how my skin exactly looks like after 21days of using above products and routines.
Though it is not completely cleared but hey at least it has improved a lot and the redness has been reduced as well.

My advise to those people who are also struggling for acne problem, NEVER giveup! Try and try until you succeed. My mom once told me to just consult a derma so that it will be easier for me.
But in my case, the one who clearly knows and understand my skin is only me so I’d rather walk this journey on my own =)

================================
Sharing some basics:
I know there are a lot of products and it is quite a confusing therefore I’ll just enumerate the necessary things you need to do in order to fight acne:
1)    CLEANSE
·         This is important because dirt and bacteria is one of the reasons why pimples/acnes grows

2)    TONE/EXFOLIATE
·         This step is mainly to rejuvenate your skin such as unclogging pores etc

3)    MOISTURIZE
·         Lack of moisture can also be one of reasons why pimples/acnes pop out

4)    TREAT
·         Very important to apply suitable ointment/cream to heal the acne related areas/spots

5)    PREVENT
·         Applying serums wherein it act as a shield which help prevent skin to bacteria

Disclaimer: I am NOT an expert, I am simply sharing my experience (for over a decades) on fighting acne.

  18. So your acne looks a little worse than mine does. I get mine more along my jaw line and it's itches, causing me to scratch which than makes it worse. So I know your pain. I am back at my dermatolagist again, but what he gave me is just one cream and it's not doing the job. So I think I'll try adding one or two of these products into my routine and see how it goes. Thanks for sharing this!

  29. Oh wow this is such an inspirational post. Thank you so much for sharing.
I used to have pretty bad acne on my forehead and always had a fringe to cover it - which made it worse because of the oils from my hair! I went to a dermatologist because I wanted to try Roaccutane but he didn't think it was severe enough so I went on the pill instead. It only took about 6 months for my skin to clear up enough for me to feel comfortable not wearing a fringe! It has been one year that I have been on the pill now and I still have blemishes/acne scarring but I always have my forehead exposed so the dirty oils don't contaminate my skin. I do wear foundation on a daily basis though as I'm still very self conscious, but I will remove all my makeup as soon as I come home.
Anyway, thanks again for this post and also for dropping by my blog :)

  37. I'm happy with the progress of your acne treatment. I'm glad that it worked out for you. But I do worry that using too many products all at once can make your skin prone to another breakout once it gets used to the product. Our skin needs time to breathe as well. Products no matter if it is meant to fix our skin won't be all for the best in a long period of time. Try doing a one day break over two weeks, then lessen that gap lil by lil. Just my opinion.

    1. aww, thanks angela..my moms said the same thing as you did..and as people said, mom's always knows best...I'm only using that much product to heal/cure my current breakout but once all of them are cleared up which pretty much already, I just use a cleanser, toner and serum...thanks for the great advise..I would really let my skin breathe for a while..=)

Any tips and advice. Thanks :)

    1. Hi Econ,
I bought all those at Rustan's Makati =)
Since hindi ka naman prone sa acne, I really don't suggest using that much product. I think you just need an ointment to heal those blemishes. In my case, I found the Philosophy cream(avail. @ Beauty Bar) really effective on healing cystic acnes. Simply apply a pea size amount to those acne affected areas. As for cleanser, I think any cleanser will do as long as hiyang ka, then use the the Dickinson's Toner as this also helps control breakouts(avail.@ Healthy option's PHP59), lastly followed it with the Philosophy cream.

      Hope this helps =)

It really made my face acne free. I've been using it for 2 months now and It's doing pretty good! have you tried it? i'm worried that my acne will come back :( I don't want to deal my acne face anymore.

    1. Thanks dear =) Wow! I haven't used the dalacin-c regime yet as I'm quite lazy to mix it with the toner etc. hehe.. So glad to hear that regime work great on you. As long as you see improvements on your skin then I suggest continue with the regime until you've reached your desired complexion =) Stay positive as that will also affect our skin condition ^_^~

  51. hi! very helpful po ang blog nyo! :D

14 years old palang po aq pero i WAS super acne prone eversince gumamit aq ng mga face products nung gr.6...

treating our problem(acne) would ONLY be reduced (unfortunately, it has no cure po) once you get rid of the root cause INSIDE the body... kumbaga, ung mga pimples na yan ay mga dirty particles/toxins na ine-excrete ng skin natin dhl marumi ang system natin...
using commercial products is like putiing a band-aid on a wound (which is temporary). the permanent way to clear town is obviously, cleansing our system.

    LESSONS LEARNED:
    1. skin can heal itself w/ matinding patience
    2. leave acne alone
    3. 1 word to define those skin/acne products: CRAP!

    anyway, gus2 q lang po i-share ang experience q about dealing w/ acne =)
i suggest you do the same ate... malay mo po, tumalab sau & you can save money pa :) it's up to you naman po...
at paxencia na po kc mahaba saka it has too much info... andami q po kcing natutunan na gus2 q po ibahagi :D

good luck to us ang God bless!

  55. One thing I regret while dealing with my acne... going to the DERMATOLOGIST! Yes, na-treat siya and for almost a year I was clear. Pero what it left me was a lot more disappointing.. pit scars! Nabutas yung mukha ko and now since hindi ko naman afford ang magpa-laser or whatnot, I have to face the future with non-flawless skin. Grabe talaga. Sana nag-stick na lang ako sa pagre-research para sa perfect regimen. Pero sinukuan ko at nagpa-derma ako. At ito pa yung derma na skin clinic talaga at hindi beauty clinic lang.

And now, I'm back to having massive breakouts. Yes, it could possibly be due to my poor health lifestyle pero nakakapagod pala kung ito na lang ng ito ang pinoproblema. Haaay. Pero di ko rin susukuan!

    1. Sorry to hear about your derma experience . My friend went to a derma to treat her acne but what they did is prick all of her acnes wherein it left scars on her face. After seeing that incident, never in my mind would I ever consult a derma. Indeed, its super stressful dealing with acne. I've been suffering from acne for more than a decade and still up to now I'm still struggling. But who knows, maybe one day "acne" might stop bothering us and we don't have to deal with "them" anymore..=)
